Vinho Verde means green (fresh) wine from Portugal

It’s summertime and that’s a great time for light, lemony Portugese Vinho Verde wine. It’s a perfect pair with seafoods and salads. It’s not expensive; in fact some retailers sell it as low as $6 a bottle.

Consuelo Marin, of Santa Carolina Winery in Chile

Henry interviews Viña Santa Carolina Winemaker Consuelo Marin, from Santiago, Chile. She says it’s a discipline to produce the best grapes in the best area. She tells how she discovered that some of her Merlot stock was actually Carminiere vines. Her winery has developed a new Piñot Noir. And a new reserve product, VSC, is unveiled by Consuelo during the interview. If you enjoy wine, you will love the wines of Santa Carolina. 
A mushroom risotto prepared by South Miami’s “Two Chefs” restaurant was the perfect wine-tasting accompaniment.

The Barolo region wines of Matteo Molino and Carlo Ravello, in Italy

Barolo wines are from the Piedmont area of Italy. Wine enthusiasts refer to Barolo as the “Wine of Kings” and the “King of Wines”. The grape used in Barolo is Nebbiolo. Mauro Molino and Fratelli Revello are considered two of the top wineries in Barolo. The best of the recent vintages are 1995, 1996, 1997 (outstanding/100 points) and 1999.
